“The Dream Gobbler”
12-color screenprinted shirt.
Goes on sale this Friday online at ZEROFRIENDS
And here is the story behind the Dream Gobbler, which is printed on the inside of the shirt, as told by the 9-year old version of me:
“Whenever Uncle Randy returned from “The ‘Boriginies” he would tell me stories about the things he saw and heard. One time he saw leopard as big as an elephant, and another time he learned that if you make the right clicking noise with your throat, you can control ants to do whatever you want.
But this last time, he said he barely made it home alive. When I asked him why, he told me that he was getting his dreams stolen from him, and that “a man who doesn’t dream eventually doesn’t breathe”.
“How do you stop yourself from dreaming?” I asked.
“You can’t…but the Dream Gobbler can.”
“The Dream Gobbler”, he said, “is a giant monster that lives in the clouds. And even though it’s tried eating every kind of bird and tree and airplane that it comes across, nothing satisfies its hunger like the dreams of humans. And it uses those dreams to change the way it looks, so that no one can recognize it when they look in the sky. So if you wake up and you can’t remember your dreams, perhaps it’s because you got them taken away from you by a hungry Dream Gobbler. And after enough visits….I don’t even wanna think about it.”
Since Uncle Randy came home, I now make sure the windows are shut tight at night. Even though it’s really hot usually….”
Here’s a closer look at the Sonic Bloom print. The release date is tomorrow, June 8th at 9 am, U.S Pacific time. It’s only an edition of 35.
